Ashley Scott Occupational Therapy

About Us
We're about making sure that you are living your best life, as independently as possible.
Ashley Scott Occupational Therapy provides interventions aimed at promoting independence and joy in everyday life. Occupational Therapists provide their clients with the skills to be able to engage in the tasks that occupy their time (occupations) and provide meaning and purpose to their days. We provide Occupational Therapy for Adults and Adolescents to be able to perform in their main occupations, namely work and the transition away from work into the retirement years. Our special interest and training lies in Return to Work Rehabilitation and Geriatric Care. In a world where care is being streamlined and hastened to the point of clients being "just a number", we are going back to caring about you and your story, and how to help you write the next chapter.

Our Story
After working in a variety of Occupational Therapy settings, Ashley decided that it was time to provide a personalised Occupational Therapy service focused on the individual, understanding the importance of the therapeutic relationship and it's benefits. Ashley provides a care journey where she personally walks the rehabilitation journey along side you they whole way, collaborating with other important stakeholders involved in your care such as healthcare professionals, family members, employers, insurers etc are working towards the same goals.
Meet The Team
Ashley was born in Durban, but moved up to Joburg when she was 2, growing up in the big city life. After attending the National School of the Arts (specialising in dance), she decided to blend science and art by studying Occupational Therapy. She graduated from WITS in 2013 (winning the best student research prize) and went off to complete her community service at Tonga Hospital in Mpumalanga. Thereafter, she grew in multiple positions all focused on the physical and cognitive rehabilitation of adults, gaining experience in multiple settings (ICU to home-based care) and reputable hospitals and organisations such as Morningside Mediclinic, Discovery Group Risk, Rand Mutual Assurance and Auria Senior Living. In 2019, Ashley was awarded the prestigious Kader Asmal Fellowship which enabled her to complete her MSc in Global Health at Trinity College Dublin, where she was able to explore occupations and disability experiences from a world wide perspective.
Ashley has a wide variety of experience, specifically in vocational rehabilitation and geriatric care. She has completed multiple courses in both areas of expertise, including the Lifestyle Redesign® training through The University of Southern California, and has worked directly on quality of life programs with the internationally renowned Gerontologist Rachael Wonderlin (Dementia by Day).
